Jonna Gerken was the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) FY18 president. In this capacity, she led the 40,000-member international organization, which encourages more women to enter and stay in engineering fields. She is also an engineering manager at Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corporation (UTC). At Pratt & Whitney since 2000, she has held numerous positions of increasing responsibility within both Operations and Engineering.
Gerken earned a bachelor's degree in industrial and management engineering in 1996 and an MBA in technology development in 2001, both from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She received the 2019 Influential Women in Manufacturing award, the 2016 Pettit Family Foundation Women in Science Leadership Award from the Connecticut Science Center, the 2014 STEP Award from the Manufacturing Institute, the 2011 Pratt & Whitney Diversity and Inclusion Award, and the 2006 SWE Distinguished New Engineer Award.
