Charlie serves as a industry consultant to various media, technology and investment funds. Charlie is founder and CEO of Susfugo a startup developing technology for remote visual computing. Most recently he was the Interim CEO (as well as its VP of Operations) of Onlive, a cloud based gaming company. Prior to than Charlie has served as President and CEO then Executive Chairman of Myrio a company the telephone industry to deliver consumer quality digital video into the home. Before that, he was Chief Operating Officer of Geocast Network Systems a data broadcasting startup based in the Silicon Valley. He serves on several Boards, including, Western Broadcasting of Puerto Rico and DuArt Laboratories and as an advisory to various startup companies.
Prior to that he spent 16 years at NBC where he was Vice President of Engineering and Technology where he had responsibility for Olympics, Owned Stations Operations and Engineering, Strategic Technology, Network Distribution and Engineering, and International Operations. Prior to that he was Managing Director for Olympics Engineering (starting with the 1988 games in Seoul). He continues as an advisor and consultant to NBC Olympics for its production of the Olympics as well as serving as a consultant for other large Sporting Events basing in challenging locations…..
He is a Fellow of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, which he is past president and Chair Emeritus for the Emmy Awards Committee for Science and Technology for the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences as well as serving on the NATAS Award Committee.
He has been awarded nine Emmys for his work on the Olympics, as well as being recognized with an Engineering Emmy for innovation for the 1996 Olympics.
He is married to an RPI Alum, Ellen Ackerman ’76, and they reside in New York City and California.
