Roy Whitt, ‘73

After retiring a second time, Roy is currently President of LAER Consulting LLC, providing occasional consultation to evangelical Christian churches and global businesses on leadership and asset performance management.  He is the author of numerous articles on leadership and reliability and has presented on those subjects to audiences around the world.

Roy spent 10 years with an entrepreneurial, enterprise software company, Meridium, Inc., helping build capabilities and create products that solidified Meridium’s dominant, global market position as the premier provider of equipment reliability methodologies for large manufacturing entities – a space now known as “Asset Performance Management”.  He was serving as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Asset Answers when the company was sold to GE Digital late in 2016.

Prior to joining Meridium, Roy spent 30 years in oil refining with Ashland, Inc. and Marathon Petroleum Company serving in various roles like Vice President of Business Operations, Vice President of Catlettsburg Refining LLC, Manager of Engineering, and Plant Manager.

In addition to his professional roles, Roy serves on the Board of Directors for First Baptist Church of Roanoke, Virginia, is a member of AIChE and a registered professional engineer in Kentucky (retired).

Roy splits his time between Amelia Island, Florida and Roanoke, Virginia while enjoying both saltwater and fresh water fishing with an occasional game of golf.  He and his wife, Kathy, also like to visit their two children and seven grandchildren in northeast Ohio and southern Indiana.
