Troy, N.Y. — More than 150 area middle and high school students from the greater Capital Region will participate in the 25th Annual Greater Capital Region Science and Engineering Fair on Saturday, March 21. The daylong event, which will include students from more than 20 regional schools, will be held on the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute campus in the Walker Laboratory building.
Zvi Rusak, professor of mechanical, aerospace, and nuclear engineering, at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, has been named a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Rusak was recognized for his contributions to the field of fluid mechanics, including research that informs the aerodynamic design of aircraft.
Richard W. Siegel, Robert W. Hunt Professor, Materials Science and Engineering, was elected Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) for "outstanding contributions to our understanding of cell-nanomaterials interactions and for leading the one-of-a-kind education and outreach project titled Molecularium."

Troy, N.Y. – The United States Department of Commerce has awarded the Department of Commerce Gold Medal to Frank Lombardo, research assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The gold medal is the highest honorary award granted by the Secretary of Commerce.
