The fall semester is in full swing and members of the Rensselaer Class of 2018 have already completed their first week of classes. The 1,334 first-year students promise to be an exceptional group. 
Starting classes, meeting peers, and exploring a new geographical area all at once may seem intimidating for many first-year students making the transition to college and campus life. But, it’s not like that for incoming first year students at Rensselaer.
Advanced materials leader Robert Hull has been named the first director of the Institute’s new Center for Materials, Devices, and Integrated Systems (cMDIS). 
The Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies (CBIS) will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a symposium on the intersection of engineering, biomedicine, and healthcare on Sept. 10.
Nestled in the heart of the campus is a permanent exhibit of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) memorabilia and other materials that honor the life of former Rensselaer President George M. Low ’48.
